Position:  Cafe Manager / Cafe Assistant Manager 

The Cafe Manager / Assistant Manager organizes daily operations, oversees the cafe revenue, and motivates our staff to provide excellent customer service.

To be successful in this role you should have related work experience with various roles in the F&B industry. Ultimately, your role should help to increase profitability, boost customer engagement and turn our cafe into the talk of town.

Job Scope
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe
  • Advise and guide staff on the best ways to resolve issues with customers and deliver excellent customer service
  • Engage in the process of staff hiring ( resumes selection and interviewing )
  • Train employees on drinks preparation and proper use of coffee equipment
  • Coordinate with vendors and order supplies
  • Maintain updated records of daily, weekly and monthly revenues and expenses
  • Add new menu items based on seasonality, together with the Head Chef
  • Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation
  • Generate events and promotions to boost cafe revenue
  • Adhere and enforce employee-compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
Requirements
  • Diploma in Business Management or Hospitality & Tourism, with 2-5 years of F&B service industry experience, or equivalent

  • Excellent leadership skills, experience leading a team

  • Working knowledge of general restaurant operations, including personnel management, food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation and health codes, and security

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Possess the ability to manage operating costs in accordance with budgets

  • Comfortable in working independently as well as with the management; setting priorities and delegating tasks as needed

  • Organized and detail-oriented

  • Able to start work immediately

Position:  F&B Service Crew ( Front of House )
- Part Time

The F&B Service Crew works with a dynamic team of Service Crew at the Front of House of Knots Cafe & Living. As a customer-facing representative of the company, you will always present yourself as friendly and personable.  You will provide excellent service to achieve the best dining experience for our customers.

(NOTE : This is a Non-Halal kitchen)
Job Scope
  • Basic Customer Service
  • Welcoming of customers 
  • Allocating table / seats to customers
  • Track & Take reservations
  • Register waiting customer to the waiting list
  • Taking orders and serving food / drinks
  • Table maintenance
  • Cashiering with POS system
  • Perform other delegated tasks
  • Report to outlet management member
  • Execute Good Hygiene Control of the premise - cleaning up of tables / floors / counters, etc.
  • Other ad-hoc duties

Position:  Cafe Chef

The Cafe Chef is a highly skilled professional cook who oversees the BOH operations of our dining cafe.  He will manage the budget and ensures the quality of kitchen operations. He will also manage and inspire the kitchen team towards a high standard of efficiency; and to ensure that the issues that arise within the team will be rectified in a positive and professional manner.

He is creative and is willing to experiment with new and seasonal menu options. He is an ambitious, passionate and driven individual and will lead a team to ensure that our food maintains the highest quality.  He has good communication skills and has in-depth knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and processes.

His duties may also include recruiting of new BOH employees and responding to customers’ issues and queries.

Job Scope 
  • Overall management of kitchen manpower, including overseeing the scheduling and rostering of staff and delegation of other tasks accordingly
  • Mentoring of junior chefs/cooks and train them with ability to manage contingencies
  • Manage all activities in the kitchen, including menu, food preparation and
  • production
  • Ensure efficient, cost-effective operation and profitability of food production
  • Supervise and inspect all preparation and cooking equipment on a regular basis to ensure that they are kept clean, sanitary and in perfect operating order
  • Ensure that food products, presentation and plating are of the highest quality, and
  • are prepared to serve in a timely manner
  • Assure adherence to all standards of food quality, preparation, recipes and presentation in conjunction with the specifications
  • Monitor holding and storage operations, stocking and food rotation and guarantee food service sanitation standards are met
  • Assure that the kitchen team is trained in best cleanliness and sanitation practices
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years working experience in a similar environment ( western setting ) and experience in a culinary leadership role is preferred
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment
  • Conversant in both English and Mandarin
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, BOH and FOH employees as well as guests ( when necessary )
  • Must possess the Food Safety & Hygiene Certification
  • Ability to bend, stand, and stoop for long periods of time and working long hours in hot conditions
  • Able to work 6 days per week
  • Must have experience in calculating figures and amounts to perform budgeting functions to meet the business needs
  • Able to start work ASAP

The Chef De Partie works with a dynamic team of kitchen staff in preparing and cooking ingredients at all sections of kitchen for a vibrant trendy cafe that serves light and main western dishes.  He will work closely with the Head Chef / Sous Chef.

Job Scope 
  • Prepare menus in collaboration with colleagues
  • Ensure adequacy of supplies at the cooking stations
  • Prepare ingredients that should be frequently available (vegetables, spices etc.)
  • Follow the guidance of the executive or sous chef and have input in new ways of presentation or dishes
  • Put effort in optimizing the cooking process with attention to speed and quality
  • Enforce strict health and hygiene standards
  • Help to maintain a climate of smooth and friendly cooperative environment
